Creating a Sacred Space

Creating a sacred space gives us a dedicated area for spiritual connection, meditation, ritual and anything else you intend to use it for. This allows for enhanced focus and can also help with stress reduction. A sacred space can also facilitate spiritual and personal growth.

Creating you sacred space

  1. Choose your space. It should be a private, quiet area.

  2. Clear any clutter to create a peaceful environment.

  3. Cleanse your space and the energy within it. There are several different ways to do this. Smoke cleansing, music or sounds (like a bell). If smoke cleansing, ensure that a window or door is open to allow the smoke a place to go.

  4. Set your intention. What is this space for? Meditation, prayer, ritual… State your intention clearly, either out loud or in your mind.

  5. Add meaningful objects. This is anything that is meaningful to you. Photos, heirlooms, crystals, etc.

  6. Use your space for anything that supports your intention. Meditation, prayer or even just sitting in silence.

***If you will be using fire in your sacred space, please keep fire safety in mind. For fire safety tips, see my blog about Fire Safety in Witchcraft.

Your sacred space is just that, YOURS! It doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It just has to work for you. It can be a temporary area set up for a ritual or a permanent area in your home for spiritual growth. As long as it feels peaceful to you, that’s all that matters.
